Let’s Go Island Hopping

Let’s Go Island Hopping

We’ve got warmer temperatures on our minds over at Airoom amid all this chilly weather, so what better way to get into the sunny spirit than to go island hopping?  Right, right…not that kind of island hopping. Today on the blog we’re exploring our favorite Airoom kitchen islands that we’ve designed over the years.

Grab your passport and a pair of shades as we take a tour of our favorite islands…

Lake Bluff Island

This island, completed as part of a full kitchen remodel in Lake Bluff, is a storage dream! The first floor of this home was originally cramped and lacking any sort of open floor plan– almost every room was divided up into four small squares. We combined the kitchen, dining, and living area to create two large open modern rooms with stunning natural light and a streamlined flow, great for hanging out with friends and family. We love this island for it’s ample storage and it’s long length, which spans most of the kitchen and ties all of the spaces together!

Chicago Condo Island

From Lake Bluff, we’re heading south to the heart of Chicago for a take on a modern, clean island designed for this exquisite condo! This client requested a major remodel with the main objective to be an open, inviting and warm kitchen with modern and sophisticated features. Because we were working around a smaller less open kitchen, due to the fabulous newly designed staircase, we made sure to create room for ample seating around the island so that multiple guests could congregate in the kitchen. The clean marble top and sleek island cooktop made for a simple and highly functional kitchen without giving up the warmth of the space.

Winnetka Kitchen Island

We’re making our way back north to Winnetka for our next favorite Airoom island! Brightening up the kitchen using white cabinetry and marble in order to make the space more open and inviting was our approach for this remodel. Chrome handle finishes adorned throughout the kitchen create a clean and sophisticated effect. We built this island with ample storage and seating space to accommodate a large family and encouraged everyone to spend more time together in the kitchen!

Downers Grove Kitchen Island

We’re moving west to Downers Grove for this gorgeous and contemporary take on a kitchen island. This island incorporates an innovative combination of smooth glass and warm-toned wood to make for a unique, bright, and open kitchen. This client wanted a particular focus on the island with seating for six, so we expanded it to make it run the nearly the entire length of the kitchen. The chairs add a cool accent to the space, and the stainless steel vent hood above the island reflect the rest of the home’s modern yet comfortable aesthetic.

Evanston Island on the Lake

Back east to the lake and we’ve landed on two islands in one in this fabulous Evanston remodel! This renovation turned an outdated 1950’s kitchen into a modern culinary marvel. This client wanted to incorporate the surrounding environment into their kitchen, so we installed huge bay windows to offer stunning views of the lake, and designed two large kitchen islands to make sure everyone had a perfect view of the shore as they ate and prepared meals. The majority of the kitchen and it’s fixtures were done in white to create a breezy, open feel throughout the home to reflect its airy and nautical surroundings.

We’re tuckered out from island hopping and we’re returning home with a fresh dose of renovation inspiration from the tour of Airoom islands we’ve designed over the years.
